IMEIs and serials are stored encrypted and shown as the last four characters. Permitted staff can reveal them on the item page, and every reveal is logged.
IMEIs and serial numbers identify a device, so the system stores them encrypted and shows them partly hidden by default, for example only the last four characters. People with the right permission can reveal the full number, and every reveal is logged.
What you see where
| Where | What you see |
|---|---|
| Stock list and sale screen | The last four IMEI digits |
| Item page | A hidden number until you tap Show IMEI/serial |
| Receipts and purchase vouchers | The last four characters of the IMEI or serial |
Seeing the full number
On the item page, in the Device details card, tap Show IMEI/serial. You need the Reveal IMEI/serial numbers permission. By default it is held by: Owner, Store Admin, Manager, Supervisor-Approver, Cashier, Appraiser, Technician, Inventory staff, Accountant. Each reveal records who looked and when in the audit log.
Searching needs the full number
Because the numbers are encrypted, searching the stock list, the sale screen and global search needs the complete IMEI or serial. If you only remember part of it, search by stock code or model name instead. See View stock: filter by status, sort by age, pick a branch.
Customer details are hidden the same way
Customers' national ID and phone numbers are shown partly hidden too, and seeing them in full uses a separate permission. See Reveal a customer's full ID and contact details.
