Set a customer to normal, watch, high risk or do not transact. You cannot buy from a blocked customer, and lowering from high risk needs a specific permission.

Who can do this:
Owner, Store Admin, Manager, Cashier (role defaults; the owner can change them)

The store can give each customer a risk level, for example a customer who once brought in a problem device. The system uses it to warn staff, and refuses purchases from customers marked do not transact.

Risk levels

Level Effect in the system
Normal No extra effect
Watch When buying, the valuation shows a risk reason that the customer is on the watch list
High risk Warns like Watch, and lowering it needs a specific permission
Do not transact You can't buy or take trade-ins from this customer; the customer page and the customer picker show a warning

A customer marked do not transact can still buy from the store, because the block is there to stop problem items coming into the shop.

Change the risk level

  1. Open the customer's page from Customers.

  2. On the Risk level card, tap Change level.

  3. Choose the new Level.

  4. Write a Reason others will understand, for example "brought in a locked device before", then save.

Every change is recorded in the audit log, with the level before and after and the reason.

Who can change it

  • Raising it, or lowering Watch back to Normal, uses the Edit customers permission, held by default by: Owner, Store Admin, Manager, Cashier.

  • Lowering from High risk or Do not transact needs the Change customer risk level permission, held by default by: Owner, Store Admin, Manager. People without it don't see the lower levels in the list.

It is split this way so that whoever buys from customers can't unblock a customer the store has barred. See Adjust one person's permissions.

Frequently asked questions

Can a blocked customer still buy from the store?

Yes. Do not transact stops purchases and trade-ins from that customer; selling to them still works as normal.
