Set when stock is slow-moving or dead (30 and 60 days by default). The values drive insights, reports and the overview.
- Who can do this:
- Owner, Store Admin (role defaults; the owner can change them)
The slow-moving and dead-stock thresholds tell the system how long a device can sit in the shop before it should warn you. The defaults are slow-moving from 30 days and dead stock from 60 days. Shops that sell faster or slower can change them in the Stock and approvals card on the Store settings page.
Before you start
You need the Store settings permission. By default it is held by: Owner, Store Admin. These thresholds aren't financial controls, so you don't have to be the owner.
Open Store settings and go to the Stock and approvals card.
Enter the number of days in Slow-moving after.
Enter the number of days in Dead stock after. It must be higher than the slow-moving threshold.
Tap Save settings.
What the thresholds affect
-
Store Intelligence: flags slow-moving stock (at the slow threshold but below the dead-stock one) and dead stock (at the dead-stock threshold), with the capital tied up. See Dead and slow stock alerts: what to do.
-
Dead stock and inventory aging reports: group devices with the same thresholds. See Stock age and aged stock reports.
-
The stock age card on the overview: uses the shop's dead-stock threshold.
New values apply from the next calculation. A device's age doesn't change, only the group it falls into.
Choosing the thresholds
-
Check the average Days-to-Sell of the models you sell most in the model performance report. If they usually sell fast, lower the slow-moving threshold so you see problems sooner.
-
Laptop shops and expensive models usually sell more slowly than phones, so a higher threshold may suit.
-
Don't set them too high. The longer a device waits, the more the market price falls and the holding cost grows.
