The system warns when stock passes your slow-moving or dead-stock age, showing capital tied up and suggested prices so you can reprice or sell to recover cash.

Who can do this:
Owner, Store Admin, Manager, Supervisor-Approver, Cashier, Appraiser, Technician, Inventory staff, Accountant, Auditor, Privacy Officer, Viewer, Dealer (role defaults; the owner can change them)

The longer a device sits in the shop, the longer the money you paid for it stays tied up, and second-hand prices usually fall over time. So the system warns you when stock starts selling slowly, and warns more strongly when it becomes dead stock, together with what to do.

When the system warns you

Card Limit (default) Label
Slow sellers Age of 30 days or more, but not yet dead stock Needs attention
Dead stock Age of 60 days or more Urgent
  • Age counts from the day the device came into the shop. Stock imported from a file counts from the received date in the file; if the file has no date, from the import date.

  • Every device the shop still owns is counted, including devices waiting for inspection, in repair, reserved or being transferred, because the money is tied up all the same.

  • The owner, or anyone allowed to change shop settings, can change the limits in Store settings under Slow-moving after and Dead stock after.

What the card tells you

The card title gives the number of devices. The text below gives the total capital tied up in them and the suggestion. For dead stock it suggests cutting the price or selling through another route to get the money back; for slow sellers, a small price cut and online promotion before they become dead stock.

Dealing with dead stock step by step

  1. Tap the card button, View items and recommended prices or View items. The Aged stock & what to do report opens.

  2. Check the Issue, What to do and Recommended price columns for each device. The recommended price in this report is worked out so it is not below cost, then rounded, so it may differ slightly from cost.

  3. Tap the item code to open the device, set a new list price, then tap Save price.

  4. If the device is still waiting for repair, follow up the repair job or consider selling it as it is.

  5. Go back to Store Intelligence and tap Update now to see the latest figures.

How the report works out its recommended price

Issue in the report Recommended price
No list price yet or The list price is below cost Cost plus the minimum profit your shop has set (10% by default)
Dead stock Lower than the list price, but not below cost
Slow seller A smaller cut than dead stock, and not below cost
In repair for a long time The current list price; follow up the repair first

Why the card stays after a price cut

The card counts stock age, not price. A device leaves the card only when it is sold, written off or no longer owned by the shop. A lower price helps it sell sooner; it does not remove it from the card.

What "sell to a dealer" means

It means contacting a dealer you know, outside the system. The dealer marketplace in the system is not open yet; see Dealer Exchange is not open yet.

Notifications

Every morning the system sends this to the bell under Aged stock / slow sellers, to members allowed to view stock, at most once a day. You can turn this topic on or off yourself; see Choose the notifications you get.

Frequently asked questions

I cut the price, so why is the dead stock card still there?

Because the card counts stock age, not price. A device leaves the card when it is sold or written off. A lower price helps it sell sooner.

Does the dead stock card count devices in repair or in transfer?

Yes. Every device the shop still owns is counted, including those waiting for inspection, in repair, reserved or being transferred, because the money is tied up all the same.
