The Stock value report sums up how many units the store has in stock right now, how much capital they hold, and what they would bring in at their list prices, by branch and category. It shows data as of the moment you open it; there is no period to choose.
What each column means
-
Branch and Category: one row per product category in each branch, such as phones, tablets or laptops.
-
units: items the store still owns, including those awaiting inspection, in repair, reserved or being transferred between branches.
-
Capital tied up: the total cost of those items, including repairs and other recorded costs, shown only to people with View cost and profit.
-
Value at list price: the sum of list prices. Items without a list price are not counted.
-
Not priced: how many items have no list price yet.
-
Average age (days): average age, counted from the date received.
The headline figures show Units in stock, Total capital tied up, Value at list price and Not priced for the whole store, or for the branch you picked.
How to read the figures
-
If Value at list price is very close to Capital tied up, your list prices leave little profit, or many items have no price yet.
-
If a category has a high average age, open Stock age and aged stock reports to see which items are stuck.
-
Value at list price is the price the store set itself, not a price you are sure to get. The real price can be lower after haggling or markdowns.
