Enter battery health as a percentage and the charge cycles when buying, trading in or inspecting. A battery below the threshold sends the device to repair.
- Who can do this:
- Owner, Store Admin, Manager, Cashier, Appraiser, Technician, Inventory staff (role defaults; the owner can change them)
Battery health and the charge-cycle count tell you whether a battery will need replacing soon. You can record them when buying, taking a trade-in and inspecting. Both fields are optional, but they make the inspection result and the valuation closer to reality.
Reading the values on the device
-
iPhone: Settings → Battery → Battery Health
-
MacBook: the system information screen, power section, shows both the battery condition and the cycle count
-
Android: it varies by brand; some models need the maker's diagnostic app
In the Battery card on the buying screen, or on the inspection page, enter the Battery health as a percentage.
Enter the Charge cycles if you can read it.
Save it with the purchase or the inspection.
What the battery affects
-
Inspection result: if battery health is below the system's threshold, the item page lists Battery below threshold, the result is conditional and the device goes to awaiting repair.
-
Valuation: a weaker battery lowers the valuation, and the valuation panel shows the risk that it may need replacing.
-
Sale screen: battery health shows on the bill's item lines, which helps answer customers' questions.
After replacing the battery
-
Record the battery as an item expense of type battery replacement. See Record per-item costs: repair, battery, parts, shipping.
-
Inspect again with the new battery health. The device becomes ready to sell if the other checks pass. See Inspect with the checklist and set a grade.
