A card that warns when the shop pays more for the same model and grade than its own median, comparing only your prices, with the amount paid over.
- Who can do this:
- Owner, Store Admin, Manager, Supervisor-Approver, Appraiser, Inventory staff, Accountant, Auditor (role defaults; the owner can change them)
This card warns when the shop starts paying more than it used to for the same model, which quietly eats the profit. The system compares only the prices your own shop paid, not the market.
What the system compares
-
Devices of the same model, spec and grade that were bought or taken in on trade.
-
The average of the latest purchases against the median of the purchases in a longer period before.
-
At least two recent purchases and enough earlier history are needed for it to count as a trend.
-
If the latest price is above the median by more than the limit, a Needs attention card appears with the amount paid over, roughly.
Devices of different grades are not compared with each other, and models with little data show no card.
What to do
-
Open the list at the bottom of the card and see which models cost more and how many devices.
-
Press Value a purchase and look at the Safe Buy for that model to see whether the market really rose.
-
If the market did not rise, go back to your usual offer and check whether you are overpaying when customers haggle.
-
If the market really rose, raise your selling prices to match so the margin does not fall.
Good to know
The card cannot say whether the market really rose or the devices you took in were in better condition, so read it together with the valuation result. It reveals costs, so it is shown only to people with View cost and profit, and it is sent as a morning alert to those who have margin alerts switched on.
