Valuations come from your shop's data, with a range, confidence and risk reasons. Staff make the final call: a valuation is not a price guarantee.
Valuations, Safe Buy and the Price Curve are decision support. The system calculates them from the data your shop has, and shows a price range, confidence, the amount of data and the risk reasons. People in the shop always make the final price decision. The system doesn't guarantee a device will sell at that price or that the shop will make a profit.
Why it can't be a guarantee
-
The data is from the past: your real sale prices show what already happened, and market prices can always change, for example when a new model comes out.
-
The data is limited: the system only uses your shop's data, and some specs have little of it, so confidence is low.
-
The system can't see the device: problems not found at purchase, such as intermittent faults, aren't in the calculation.
-
Every customer is different: the price actually achieved depends on negotiation and timing.
What the system gives you to decide with
-
A price range, not a single number
-
Confidence and the amount of data used
-
Each risk reason
-
How Safe Buy was calculated, line by line
-
A clear "not enough data" message instead of a guess when data is too thin
How to read it is in Reading a valuation: range, confidence, liquidity, risk, and the full method is on Methodology.
Does it use AI?
Today the system uses formulas you can follow step by step, from your shop's real sale prices and market prices. It doesn't use an AI model to predict prices, and every number can be traced back. ML price advice is not open yet. See ML price advice and the public price index.
The shop still decides
-
You can buy above Safe Buy with a reason and an approver. See Buying above Safe Buy: reason and approver.
-
You can always set your own selling price; the suggestion is only a starting point.
-
The owner can adjust the minimum profit and risk reserve to suit the shop. See Set minimum profit, risk reserve and holding cost.
