Dashboard graphs: profit, loss and tied-up capital

  1. Profit and loss over time
  2. Capital tied up by age

The profit and loss chart uses green for profit, red for loss and grey for days without sales; the stock chart splits capital by age and by how easily it sells.

Who can do this:
Owner, Store Admin, Manager, Supervisor-Approver, Cashier, Appraiser, Technician, Inventory staff, Accountant, Auditor, Privacy Officer, Viewer, Dealer (role defaults; the owner can change them)

The graphs on the dashboard can be read without colour: every colour has an icon and a word, and every graph has a Show the numbers button that opens the same figures as a table.

Profit and loss over time

A green bar pointing up is a day (or week) with a profit. A red hatched bar pointing down is a loss. A grey dot on the zero line means no sales. You can view by day or by week. At the top are the total and the comparison with the period before, of the same length.

Profit comes from every cost of the devices sold that day, not from sale price minus purchase price. See True profit. Stock written off counts as a loss on the day it left the shelf, the same as the card for today's profit and loss, which is linked under the chart.

With very few sales the system says the figures swing a lot, and it does not compare with the period before until each period has enough sales. This chart needs the permissions to see financial reports and cost.

Capital tied up by age

One bar splits the stock into three groups by the slow and stale limits your store set. Fresh is green, normal is grey and stale is red and hatched. Each group shows the number of devices, the capital and the share in writing. A member without permission to see cost sees device counts but not amounts.

A second bar splits the same stock by how easily each model sells, using the score of the model risk board. See How the easy and hard-to-sell score works. A model with too little data has its own group and is not guessed.

Frequently asked questions

Does the profit and loss chart include stock that was written off?

Yes. Stock written off counts as a loss on the day it left the shelf, by the same rule as the card for today's profit and loss, so the figures agree.
