Only your own shop's data is used, so a new shop starts with too little. Build it up by importing past sales, recording listings and selling in the system.
- Plans:
- Available on Starter and up
- Who can do this:
- Owner, Store Admin, Manager, Supervisor-Approver, Cashier, Appraiser (role defaults; the owner can change them)
The system values devices from your own shop's data only, so a shop that has just started has no real sales in it yet. At first the valuation panel says there isn't enough data for many models, and once it starts showing prices, confidence is low. Data from other shops on the network is not open yet. See Province prices and the cross-store IMEI signal.
Build up data faster
| Method | What you get |
|---|---|
| Import past sales from Excel | Sale prices and selling times for each model, usable straight away if they fall within the period the system uses, with less weight than sales made in the system. See Import past sales history |
| Record listing prices | Starting data for the models you buy most. See Record market, dealer and quoted prices |
| Sell in the system every time | Every sale becomes one of your real sale prices automatically |
| Set the expected holding days | Used for the holding cost until you have a sales history. See Set minimum profit, risk reserve and holding cost |
The system uses data from the last 180 days by default. Older sales can be imported and show in reports, but don't help valuations.
What to do in the early days
-
Always read the amount of data under the panel title. With little data, confidence is low and the range is wide.
-
Combine it with your shop's experience. Early numbers are supporting information, not answers.
-
Enter a target sell price when buying to see a rough expected profit, even without Safe Buy.
-
If the panel shows what your shop has paid for this model before, use it as a reference point.
When the numbers become more reliable
Confidence rises as a spec gets more real sales, prices that agree and recent data. Once a spec has several real sales, the system relies mainly on them instead of listing prices. See Reading a valuation: range, confidence, liquidity, risk.
