Sale and trade-in receipts print a 30-day shop warranty from purchase, excluding misuse, water and drops. It can't be changed yet.
Sale and trade-in receipts print a shop warranty note at the bottom. It states how many days the shop covers from the date of purchase, and excludes misuse, water damage and drops. By default the warranty is 30 days.
The note on the receipt
The warranty note has three parts:
-
The number of days covered, from the date of purchase
-
The exclusions: misuse, water damage or drops
-
A reminder to keep the document as proof
It's printed on sale and trade-in documents only. Purchase vouchers, return receipts and payment vouchers carry no warranty note.
Can the warranty period be changed?
The store settings page doesn't have a field to change the warranty period on receipts yet, so every shop uses the same default. If your shop offers something different, such as longer cover on some devices, write the terms in the sale's notes field. Notes print on the receipt too.
Shop warranty versus the device's own warranty
| Shop warranty on the receipt | Warranty left on the device | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | The shop's cover for the buyer | Official, AppleCare+ or an earlier shop warranty that came with the device when you bought it |
| Where it's recorded | Printed on sale receipts automatically | Chosen in Remaining warranty when buying |
| Where you see it | The receipt | The item page, under warranty |
The device's remaining warranty isn't printed on the receipt. To tell the customer, put it in the bill notes.
Following up a warranty claim
Always add the customer to the sale, so their name is on the document. When they come back to claim, find the bill by its receipt number under Transactions and check the sale date. See Find past bills and documents. If you take the device back and refund, see Take back an item and refund the customer.
